Avalanche Activity

Slight increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.

Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. This applies at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, and on extremely steep slopes at intermediate and high altitudes. As a consequence of warming and solar radiation, the natural avalanche activity will slowly increase. Very early morning: There is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be quite stable. In particular low and intermediate altitudes: The surface of the snowpack is frozen, but not to a significant depth and will soften earlier than the day before. In the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
