Avalanche Activity

Some snow fell yesterday. The avalanche danger will persist.

On very steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes and above approximately 2000 m individual small dry loose snow avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. Avalanches can additionally be released in deep layers, in particular by large additional loads. This applies in particular above approximately 2500 m, in particular on extremely steep northeast, north and west facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area 5 cm of snow, and up to 10 cm in some localities, fell on Wednesday above approximately 2000 m. The small quantity of fresh snow and isolated wind slabs are lying on a crust. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes. This applies especially above approximately 2500 m.

Tendency

Gradual increase in danger of dry avalanches as a consequence of the snowfall.
