The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE at the high elevation and LOW below 9,000 feet this morning. Observed snowfall varied through the forecast area, ranging from 2 to 6 inches. Pockets of soft slab up to 12 inches could be triggered by backcountry users on steep leeward slopes. In the afternoon at the low elevation, clearing skies and warm temperatures could soften supportable surface crusts resulting in wet loose slides, increasing the avalanche hazard to MODERATE. Above 7,500 feet on sunlit aspects, sun balls and pinwheels could be seen, but should be isolated to new snow, which overlies stronger crusts that are unlikely to breakdown.

Dry weather is forecasted through late Monday morning. Some snow showers will form Monday afternoon and will be on the increase Monday night into Tuesday as a Pacific weather system moves through the area. Storm totals are expected to range from 3 to 6 inches. Overnight mountain lows should dip into the teens before rising to near freezing tomorrow. Valley lows should be in the upper teens and rise into the upper 30s.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW at all elevations tomorrow, as mostly stable snow exists. At the upper elevations, isolated pockets of surface slab up to 6 inches in depth could be triggered in steep wind loaded terrain. At lower elevations, cloudy skies should mitigate any solar effect, making wet slides unlikely. However, if sunny skies prevail throughout the day, the sun crust could break down, allowing for the possibility of wet slides.Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
