Avalanche Summary

Expect avalanche danger to rise at upper elevations as strong winds drift fresh snow. You can trigger an avalanche where wind-drifted snow accumulates below ridgelines or cornices, around rock outcroppings, and on the sides of gullies. An avalanche could take you on a nasty ride into shallowly-covered rocky terrain. Avoid steep slopes where you find dense, hollow-feeling new snow. Cracking in the snow surface, or recent avalanche activity are clear signs of avalanche danger in the area.
