Avalanche Summary

The most dangerous slopes right now are steep, north through east-facing slopes around 11,000 to 12,000 feet typically just below ridgelines. Most of these avalanches will be small but big enough to knock you over and take you for a possibly dangerous ride. If there are recent avalanches on similar slopes, that is the most obvious sign that you found a problematic area and should consider moving to another aspect. Safer travel options exist below treeline where new snow rests on a thick, supportable crust or above treeline where the new snow rests on very firm, wind-drifted snow or bare ground.

Expect the danger to increase on Friday with an incoming storm bringing over a foot of new snow to favored areas.
