Avalanche Summary

A drifted slab of snow formed over a thin, weak snowpack. Look for and avoid areas of drifted snow on steep slopes. Leeward catches like below ridgelines and inside gullies are the most likely places to find drifted snow. Cracking and collapses are obvious signs to avoid these slopes, but you might not see any.

Safer travel can be found in wind-sheltered and lower-elevation terrain, where the new snow remains unconsolidated.
