Avalanche Activity

Beware of wet avalanches and avalanches!

The situation in the Tatras is generally favourable. Due to the warm air, small wet or foundation avalanches may occur very occasionally. The most dangerous are the eastern to southern slopes, where most of the snow is currently located in terms of orientation. The avalanche situation is expected to worsen with the arrival of rain in the evening.

Snowpack Structure

The snow cover on most slopes has turned to firn. Hard in the morning, gradually softened to slushy due to the warm air. A continuous layer of snow can be found from about 1600 m above sea level and mainly on northeastern to eastern orientations.

Tendency

During the day due to warming or rain rising.
