Problèmes avalancheux

  • Wind slab

    • Above 2,200 m

Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines.

As a consequence of northwesterly wind, brittle wind slabs formed. The avalanche prone locations are rather rare. The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in particular on north to northeast to southeast facing aspects and generally at intermediate and high altitudes. The more recent wind slabs are to be bypassed in very steep terrain.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is largely stable and has a loosely bonded surface. This applies in particular in shady places that are protected from the wind. In isolated cases new snow is lying on a hard crust. In all regions only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

Temporary increase in danger of dry avalanches as a consequence of the new snow.
