Avalanche Summary

An Avalanche Warning is in effect through Tuesday for heavy snowfall and strong winds.

You can easily trigger a large and dangerous avalanche that can bury and kill on steep slopes with more than about 12 inches of new snow. A natural avalanche cycle is expected in the next 24 hours above and near treeline, and travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Slides have the potential to break near the ground and travel farther than you might expect.

Northerly-facing slopes at all elevations remain the bulls-eye to trigger a large and deadly avalanche. As snow totals stack up, weaker snow below a cohesive slab will become touchier to the weight of a rider or machine. Seek low-angle terrain if you see signs of unstable snow, like cracking or collapsing . Treat slopes over 30 degrees on all aspects as guilty till proven otherwise.
