The potential for humans to trigger dense slab avalanches up to two feet in depth remains at the upper elevations. These slabs lie upon a persistent weak layer of buried surface hoar on a hard crust and are most likely to be triggered in cliff areas, steep northerly aspects and in areas with fresh deposits of wind driven snow.
