Avalanche Summary

You might trigger an avalanche that breaks two to four feet deep on steep slopes. A layer of weak snow lurks inside the snowpack and choosing lower-angle slopes remains your best approach to avoid getting into trouble. Consider your terrain choices carefully, and avoid places where even a short-running avalanche might push you over a cliff or debris might pile up deeply.
