Points saillants
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Surface slabs formed by strong northwest winds several feet in depth lie upon weak layers of buried surface hoar and hard old snow surfaces. In addition weak layers of faceted snow persist deep in the snowpack and near the ground. Backcountry users could trigger these surface slabs and/or deeper dangerous slabs in steep wind loaded avalanche terrain. Highmarkers could cross these slabs multiple times before a weak spot fails and triggers a large slab avalanche.
