Points saillants
The General Avalanche Hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Warm, heavy new snow has fallen onto six inches of light powder. At ridgetops strong winds have created slabs to eighteen inches in depth that could be user triggered on lee slopes. The new snow will make it easier to trigger underlying slabs to three feet in depth that rest on a weak layer of old surface hoar that still lurk in unpredictable areas. At low elevations avoid steep ravines and roadcuts where wet, loose slides are possible.
