Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on wind-drifted slopes. Avoid rounded pillows of firm snow that may crack. Below treeline, the snowpack was very weak pre-storm, and the new slab means avalanches can gouge into deeper weak layers and propagate unusually for below treeline.

On steep, rocky slopes with cold snow that see the sun, you could see loose avalanches. Avoid being on these slopes if you see roller balls and point releases.

Avoiding rounded pillows of wind-drifted snow on steep slopes is a good way to reduce your hazard. If the picture looks complex, you can simply step back to slopes about 30 degrees or less.
