Avalanche Summary

You can trigger wet avalanches in recent snow on most aspects. Most will be small, but in steep confined terrain like couloirs, even a small wet slide can knock you off your feet or bury you. Get into and out of the mountains early. Watch for a wet gloppy surface, rollerballs, and small wet avalanches running off steep rocky terrain. Once you see these signs, move to a cooler aspect or call it a day. On high-elevation north, northeast, and east-facing slopes, you may still find cold dry snow. Watch for pockets of wind-drifted snow below ridgelines and in concave couloirs.
