Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will be hard, icy and stable throughout. Greatest snow amounts are predominantly on North-West through North and East to Southerly aspects above 700m. Any fresh windslab deposits will be isolated and shallow. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: Very strong to gale force Easterly winds. The freezing level will be around 700 metres initially, dropping overnight to 400 metres where it will remain. Light precipitation expected over the inland ranges, drier over the coastal mountains. Observed Weather Influences: Dry with the freezing level around 850 metres. Light Easterly winds initially, strengthening during the day to become strong. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is firm and stable throughout. Greatest snow amounts are predominantly on North-West through North and East to Southerly aspects above 700m. Elsewhere, snow is confined to gullies and patches. The avalanche hazard is Low.
