Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger. Above approximately 1800 m the wind slabs are larger. Wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.

As a consequence of new snow and a strong to storm force northeasterly wind, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form in particular in places that are protected from the wind. In all aspects medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large slab avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

A lot of snow will fall. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a moist old snowpack.
