Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence. The new snow of the last three days can be released easily.

Over a wide area 60 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the last three days above approximately 1700 m. At high altitude and in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. The fresh wind slabs can be released even by a single winter sport participant at elevated altitudes.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow can be released by a single winter sport participant in particular on steep shady slopes. As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind, easily released wind slabs formed. Gliding avalanches are possible below approximately 1700 m. In particular at low altitude a little snow is lying.
