TO for 3/1/25. Fresh unstable windslab mainly on NE-E-S aspects above 600 metres. Fragile cornices developing. Moderate hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Strong winds, further snow and the redistribution of lying snow will lead to unstable windslab developing in wind sheltered locations mainly on North-East through East to South aspects above 600 metres. Fragile cornices will form above these aspects. In other locations stability will generally be good. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force West to North-Westerly winds in the evening ease to become light during the day. Showers, heaviest overnight will fall as snow to low levels. The freezing level rises to 400 metres overnight before dropping slightly . Observed Weather Influences: It was a cold day with showers falling as snow to sea level. Moderate to fresh Northerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of moderately bonded soft windslab are present mainly on South-East to South-West aspects above 800 metres. In other locations the snow is soft and unconsolidated with generally good stability. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
