Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible. Backcountry tours and off-piste skiing should be concluded early.

The early morning will see favourable conditions mostly, but the danger of wet avalanches will increase later. The spring-like weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2400 m. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible. Avalanches can in some places be released in deeper layers, in particular by large additional loads. Backcountry tours and off-piste skiing should be concluded early.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will already soften in the late morning. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on steep north, northeast and northwest facing slopes. The spring-like weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2400 m. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible.
