Avalanche Activity

Very cloudy or overcast with extensive precipitation. Snowfall level rising from 1200-1400 m on all sectors up to 1600-2000 m, with the highest levels in the east. New accumulations expected between 20 and 40 cm on Adamello, 10-20 cm on the Rhaetian sectors. Avalanche danger 4 strong above the treeline.

New moderate amounts of snow will increase and overload the recent widespread accumulations which will present moderate to weak consolidation on many steep slopes. The triggering will be possible even with a low overload, generating very large avalanches. Numerous large and even very large spontaneous releases will be possible, especially where snowfall will be greater.

Snowpack Structure

The new heavy quantities of snow expected will lead to a significant overload of the snowpack which presents very weak consolidation in the recently formed surface layers.
