Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs can be released easily. or in isolated cases naturally, in particular on steep shady slopes. Weak layers in the old snowpack necessitate caution and restraint. As a consequence of warming moist small and medium sized avalanches are to be expected.

Dry avalanches can be released in deeper layers also. And in particular the sometimes large wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase on south facing slopes below approximately 2000 m.

Snowpack Structure

Precarious weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on steep northwest, north and northeast facing slopes.

Tendency

As a consequence of warming during the day the prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses.
