Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack will be favourable at intermediate and high altitudes. In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as at high altitude mostly small wind slabs will form.

Avalanche Activity

The fresh snow and the wind slabs that are forming above all adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects represent the main danger.

The fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases in particular on steep, little used north, northeast and northwest facing slopes above approximately 2000 m.
