Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will continue to be deposited in wind-sheltered areas. Greatest accumulations will be on East through South to South-West aspects above 800 metres. Fragile cornices will continue to build above these aspects. The old, now covered, snowpack will be refrozen and very hard. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be mainly North-Westerly. Showers are expected throughout the period, falling as snow above 200 metres overnight and above 400-500 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Winds were moderate to strong mainly Northerly. Showers, some heavy especially during the morning, fell as snow at most levels. The freezing level was around 400 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh moderately bonded windslab has been deposited in wind-sheltered areas. Greatest accumulations are on South-East to South-West aspects above 800 metres. In some places fragile cornices are building above these aspects. The old snowpack is re-frozen and stable, though is now generally covered by new snow. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
