TO for 18.02 Instabilities on NW through E to SE aspects, cross loading on other aspects above 500m. Avalanche Hazard Considerable.

Forecast Snow Stability: New snow and redistribution will continue to build unstable windslab on all aspects above 850m. Wind sheltered coire rims, ridge flanks, gully tops and scarp slopes above 850 metres will be especially affected. Cornices will continue to build on NE to SE aspects. Below 850m there will be localised instabilities in the snowpack, especially where it gains depth in steep wind sheltered places. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The strong West winds will back South-South-East lessening by morning then backing through East to North-West and then strong West-North-West by the afternoon. There will be moderate snow showers, dryer overnight then heavier again during the day. The freezing level will hover around the 400 metre level. Observed Weather Influences: There have been snow showers above glen level with a distinct snow line at around 250 metres with deeper snow above. Winds were strong gale Westerly. The freezing level is around 400 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Unstable windslab has developed on mostly North-East to South-East aspects above 650m, with additional unstable deposits on wind sheltered North and South aspects due to cross loading. Below 650m where the new snow has gained depth, some weaknesses are present in the snowpack. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
