Points saillants

Avalanche danger depends on where the snow showers hit. In areas that receive the most new snow combined with wind, fresh wind slabs may be easy to trigger. The danger is highest while the slabs are still fresh. In areas with little new snow, the avalanche danger will be lower.

If the sun breaks through during the day, it may weaken the fresh snow and cause a few small, naturally released wet avalanches in steep terrain. These are expected to be few and limited in size.

Avalanche Activity

Avalanche danger depends on where the snow showers hit. In areas that receive the most new snow combined with wind, fresh wind slabs may be easy to trigger. Skredfaren avhenger av hvor snøbygene treffer. Der det legger seg mest nysnø i kombinasjon med vind, kan tørre flakskred være lette å løse ut. Faren er størst mens fokksnøflakene er ferske. I områder som får lite nysnø, vil skredfaren være lavere.

Dersom sola bryter gjennom utover dagen, kan den svekke den ferske nysnøen og gi enkelte små, naturlig utløste våte skred i bratt terreng. Disse ventes å være få og av begrenset størrelse.

Snowpack Structure

Det har vært mye snøsmelting de siste dagene som følge av mildvær og regn. Snøgrensen ligger rundt 300-400 moh. de fleste steder. Snøoverflaten er preget av mildvær høyt til fjells.

Tendency

Where wind slabs have formed over the past few days, it may still be possible to trigger small to medium-sized avalanches. This problem is most pronounced at higher elevations, where colder temperatures slow down the stabilization process. A little new snow today may also make it harder to see where these wind slabs are located. In general, east-facing leeward slopes have accumulated the most wind-transported snow, but local variations occur.

If the sun breaks through between snow showers, it may weaken the fresh snow and lead to naturally released wet avalanches. This is particularly relevant in steep, sun-exposed terrain.
