Points saillants

As a consequence of the new snow the prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase in the early morning. Weak layers in the old snowpack represent the main danger.

Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of the new snow the prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase in the early morning. Weak layers in the old snowpack represent the main danger.

Over a wide area up to 20 cm of snow will fall on Tuesday. Avalanches can be released in near-ground layers by small loads. In particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large dry avalanches are to be expected as the snowfall becomes more intense. Remotely triggered and natural avalanches are possible. In addition the fresh and older wind slabs must be taken into account.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow will be deposited on surface hoar above the tree line. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak. Avalanches can be released in deeper layers very easily. As well as the wind slabs will be deposited on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack.

Tendency

The natural avalanche activity will increase.
