Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs above approximately 2000 m. Slab avalanches and moist snow slides are the main danger.

More recent wind slabs are in some cases deep and can in some cases be released easily. An appreciable danger of slab avalanches exists. The danger exists primarily in alpine snow sports terrain. Avalanches capable of reaching valley bottoms and endangering exposed transportation routes are unlikely to occur.

Snowpack Structure

New snow and wind slabs are lying mostly on old snow containing large grains. The wind slabs are to be found also in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain.
