Tendency

As a consequence of the moderate to strong wind the prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase on Saturday. In all aspects the wind slabs will increase in size additionally.

Avalanche Activity

The new snow represents the main danger.

In particular in the central part of the northern flank of the Alps 20 to 30 cm of snow will fall. In the eastern part of the northern flank of the Alps 15 to 20 cm of snow will fall. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The fresh snow and the resulting wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects. On very steep slopes small and medium sized avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow.
