Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs require caution. In isolated cases the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack.

As a consequence of warming and solar radiation, the natural activity of wet avalanches will increase. In the event of prolonged bright spells this applies in particular on extremely steep sunny slopes. As a consequence of a sometimes strong southwesterly wind, wind slabs will form on Easter Sunday above approximately 2700 m. The fresh wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence especially on steep shady slopes. Avalanches can penetrate down to the ground.

Snowpack Structure

The rain gave rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2700 m. As a consequence of a sometimes strong southwesterly wind, further wind slabs will form.
