Gradual increase in avalanche danger as the precipitation becomes more intense. The fresh snow and the resulting wind slabs will become increasingly prone to triggering. These can be released by small loads and reach large size in isolated cases. This applies especially on steep north, east and southeast facing slopes. Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and on very steep slopes dry slab avalanches are possible, even quite large ones.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. In all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
