Avalanche Activity

Along the border with Switzerland and along the border with France Wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.

Along the border with Switzerland and along the border with France The wind slabs represent the main danger. Avalanches can in isolated cases be released, mostly by large loads. This applies in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, as well as in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain especially above approximately 2600 m.

Snowpack Structure

In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to consolidation of the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
