Avalanche Summary

Avalanches are unlikely, but if you are traveling in alpine, northerly terrain look for old wind-drifted snow and consider steering clear of these areas. This is where you can trigger a small avalanche that breaks near the ground. Wind drifts look like smooth pillows and feel hard underfoot. Most slopes are generally safe including slopes that weren’t recently affected by wind.
