Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a small avalanche on north, northeast, and east-facing slopes at the highest elevations of the Grand Mesa. Look for and avoid steep, wind-loaded terrain features below ridgelines and in gullies. You can identify these wind-loaded areas by their smooth rounded surface texture and the firm hollow feel you experience when traveling on them.
