Avalanche Summary

Although generally safe avalanche conditions exist, LOW (1 of 5) danger does not mean there is no danger. You still need to assess each slope you intend to ride individually. Small avalanches can have big consequences if you're in extreme terrain or above a terrain trap. The most suspect areas are drifted, rocky slopes with variable snow cover. Slopes like this contain shallow, weak areas where you're more likely to trigger a slide. Especially if they're directly below a ridgeline or in a start zone. You can increase your safety margins by looking for smooth planar slopes with consistent snow cover.
