Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE. Dangerous unstable slabs exist. Yesterday three snowmobilers died in a large avalanche in Cottonwood Creek southeast of Afton. Our condolences are extended to their family and friends. Similar events are likely to occur today. Deep hard and soft slabs lie upon a weak base of faceted snow and are likely to be easily triggered by backcountry users who venture into steep avalanche terrain. The potential to trigger these dangerous slides will increase today as temperatures rise.
