Points saillants

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Pockets of new soft slab up to 18 inches deep formed by southwest winds lie upon good sliding surfaces. These surface slabs will be easily triggered on steep wind loaded aspects. In addition, deep slab instabilities persist. The load of the new snow will also increase the potential for snowmobilers to trigger full depth avalanches on steep slopes that have a weak layer of faceted snow at the base of the snowpack. With new snow in the forecast the hazard will slowly increase as the day progresses.
