The General Avalanche Hazard is CONSIDERABLE at the Upper and Mid elevations. Dangerous slabs up to 5 feet in depth remain very susceptible to human triggers on a variety of aspects above 7,500 feet. Yesterday skiers south of the Jackson Hole Resort boundary triggered large slides on approach. Saturday two snowmobilers triggered a large avalanche in the Greys River area. Both were completely buried with one fatality. Good route finding and avalanche hazard evaluation skills are essential for safe travel under the current conditions. The Hazard is LOW at Low elevations.

The General Avalanche Hazard will remain CONSIDERABLE at Upper elevations Tuesday. Dangerous slabs on a variety of aspects up to 4 feet in depth will continue to be susceptible to human triggers. With the slide surface two to four feet deep it will become more difficult to initiate a slide and the second or later person on a slope may be the trigger. The hazard will increase with the rise of forecasted temperatures into the mid or upper twenties in the afternoon. At Mid elevations the Hazard will drop to MODERATE. The Avalanche Hazard will remain LOW at Low elevations due to strong crusts and lack of snow.High pressure and clear skies will create strong valley inversions. 10,000 foot temperatures will rise into the twenties with light winds while the valley floors will be bitter cold after overnight lows of 15 to 20 below zero.
