Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The generally firm snowpack will slowly soften in the milder conditions. Stability will generally be good throughout. Any fresh deposits of wet snow on the highest tops will be shallow and not significant. The avalanche hazard will be Low

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be milder than of late with the freezing level around 1200 metres. Easterly winds will veer to the South through the day. There may be some light precipitation which will fall as damp snow at the highest levels. Observed Weather Influences: It was a cloudy but generally dry day. Strong winds were South-East. The freezing level crept up to about 1000 metres through the day. ObservedSnowStability: Patches of windslab remain on some sheltered West to North aspects above 800 metres. However, these areas are not extensive, and are slowly stabilising the the relatively mild conditions. On other aspects, and at lower levels, the snowpack is firm and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
