Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will remain generally well bonded and stable. Isolated and shallow areas of windslab will be present mainly on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres; these should be generally avoidable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain dry with gale force South-South-Westerly winds. The freezing level will rise above the summits during the morning. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry day with moderate South-South-Westerly winds, increasing in the afternoon. The freezing level rose above the summits in the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: The older snowpack is very firm with good stability. Fresh snow accumulations from yesterday are shallow and insignificant, thawing quickly in the sun. The avalanche hazard is Low.
