Fresh wind slabs require caution. Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches in the course of the day.

10 to 25 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the last few days above approximately 2300 m. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to gradual moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2700 m, in particular on steep sunny slopes. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, especially above approximately 2400 m.

As a consequence of the strong northwesterly wind, snow drift accumulations formed during the last few days. These are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In particular at high altitude the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. Wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. They are mostly rather small but to be assessed with care and prudence. A clear night will be followed in the early morning by favourable conditions, but the danger of wet avalanches will increase later. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist avalanches are possible as the day progresses, even medium-sized ones. This applies in particular on very steep sunny slopes especially below approximately 2900 m, as well as on very steep shady slopes below approximately 2400 m.

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will already exist in the early morning.
