Avalanche Activity

The new snow must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects. Gullies and bowls are especially dangerous.

The soft wind slabs can be released easily. or in isolated cases naturally, above approximately 1800 m. Below approximately 2300 m natural moist avalanches are possible. Gullies and bowls where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are especially dangerous.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow represents the main danger. The new snow is lying on surface hoar in some places in all aspects. In some localities sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak.
