Points saillants

As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack will consolidate.

Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack will consolidate.

In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Only isolated gliding avalanches are possible by the evening, but they can reach medium size in isolated cases, especially on steep south, southwest and west facing slopes. As a consequence of falling temperatures, the activity of moist and wet avalanches will rapidly decrease.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities up to 5 cm of snow will fall in the evening above approximately 1700 m. Less snow than usual is lying, especially on steep southeast, south and southwest facing slopes below approximately 2600 m. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures a crust formed on the surface during the last few days, in particular on sunny slopes. Intermediate and high altitudes, steep shady slopes: Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted.

Tendency

As the temperature drops hardly any more moist and wet avalanches are to be expected. The avalanche danger will persist.
