Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a large and dangerous avalanche in the recent storm snow. Avalanches will be larger where winds have built fresh slabs of snow two to three feet deep over softer collapsable layers on west to north to east aspects near and above treeline. Avalanches on wind-loaded slopes may break wider than expected, crossing terrain features, stepping down to buried weak layers, and running long distances to the valley floor. Make conservative terrain choices as the snowpack adjusts to the recent large load.
