Points saillants
Sunlight and increasing temperatures will soften the snow surface and increase the avalanche hazard today. As the snow surface warms the ability will increase for backcountry users to trigger wet slides on sunlit slopes and potentially hard slabs at the higher elevations on any aspect. As this heating occurs cornices along the ridgelines may fail and roll down a slope or cause larger avalanche events. On Friday a skier triggered an avalanche in the early afternoon on a South facing slope near Ski Lake on Teton Pass.
