Avalanche Summary

Slopes near treeline that are shady and well-covered by snow pose the greatest avalanche danger. You could trigger an avalanche from the bottom or sides of a slope. While signs of obvious instability are decreasing, observers continue to find a snowpack that collapses or produces long shooting cracks. You can find safer travel on slopes without a buried weak layer, where you do not find a slab, or on slopes less than about 30 degrees.
