Points saillants
Northwest winds have formed shallow pockets (less than one foot in depth) of new soft slab in the upper elevation starting zones. These and older pockets of slab lie upon a well developed layer of surface hoar and slick melt-freeze crusts. These pockets are likely to be sensitive to human triggers. The snowpack at the mid and lower elevations is shallow and avalanches are unlikely.
