Points saillants

The General Avalanche Hazard is CONSIDERABLE and will rise during the day as addition snow and wind continue to load starting zones. Surface slabs ranging in depth from 1 to 3 feet lie atop suncrusts and buried surface hoar, and could be easily triggered or release naturally. On Friday, a skier was killed in the backcountry south of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort after being sweep over a cliff band by a similar slide. These slabs have the potential of stepping down to persistent deeper instabilities and could release to the ground with deadly consequences. Avalanche knowledge and excellent route finding skills are essential for safe travel in avalanche terrain today.
