Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today on steep wind loaded aspects and associated avalanche paths above 8,500 feet. DANGEROUS slabs two to six feet in depth lie upon slick old snow surfaces and have been triggered or released naturally on northwesterly, northerly, northeasterly and some higher elevation easterly aspects during the past several days. Similar events are likely today especially in the afternoon as new snow and strong winds load avalanche starting zones. The general avalanche hazard below 8,500 is LOW today. Avoid terrain traps and the runout zones of higher elevation avalanche paths.
