Avalanche Summary

An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the Park Range and Flat Tops for Tuesday night through Wednesday. Expect very dangerous avalanche conditions to develop Tuesday night and last through Wednesday night.

Slopes facing an easterly direction, which were recently wind-loaded, are the most dangerous. This is where you can trigger the largest avalanches. With fresh snow, it's hard to identify which slopes were recently loaded with drifted snow. Avoid steep easterly-facing slopes directly below ridgetop to reduce your risk of avalanches.

Steep, sheltered slopes will also need careful evaluation. If you find a cohesive slab resting over a very soft, weak layer of snow, consider avoiding these slopes.
